Community Engagement Manager
Arealus was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He attended New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire where he received his bachelors in Psychology and Philosophy. Afterwards he attended Boston University School of Social Work where he received his Master’s in Clinical Social Work and a sub-specialization in Macro Social Work. Shortly after graduating Boston University he obtained his licensure as a clinical social worker. While attending Boston University he was an interviewer for the Understanding the Mentoring Process study. Additionally he interned at Urban Edge and at Somerville Mental Health Association’s Adult Day Program in Somerville. Before working at Lena Park as Community Engagement Manager; Arealus worked with individuals in recovery at Victory Programs as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor. He also worked for Naphcare at the South Bay House of Corrections as a Mental Health Clinician; and at Margaret Shea Adult Day Health program where he worked with the elderly population. Arealus has since joined the Urban Edge Board of Directors in 2015.
